It’s that spooky season, again… a Presidential election. Ugh. My general goal is to avoid the endless doom-scrolling, especially at night — nothing good has ever been accomplished by injecting anxiety directly into my eyeballs.

‘Tis the season… for posing Lyndon next to people’s Halloween decorations. His expression of perpetual dubiousness works well.

My post on Doomsday Machines this week is not entirely unrelated to my thoughts on such things: “Emergences and Emergencies.” My post for next week, on authoritarianism as an existential risk unto itself, will also not be unrelated.
